A Walk between West Cliff and Westbourne (4)

And finally, down Clarendon Road to west Cliff Road again.

A Walk between West Cliff and Westbourne (3)

Looking along Portarlington Road.  Astonishing amount of foliage for a townscape.

Second part of today's walk.  Along Grosvenor Road as far as Portarlington Road.

A Walk between West Cliff and Westbourne

A really pleasant walk in the Sylvan area between West Cliff and Westbourne.  This walk will take you along West Cliff Road, up Grosvenor Road, along Portarlington and back down Clarendon Road to West Cliff Road again.
This is a route that will make you believe you are walking through dense woodland with trees and shrubs crowding in on every side.  And what's more the foliage is infinitely more varied than any countryside walk.

Clifftop near Branksome Chine

Just in Bournemouth is this rather stalwart individual braving the howling gale on the clifftop

Right on the main West Cliff Road in front of the Wessex Hotel.

Footpath Opposite Wessex Hotel

Opposite the Wessex Hotel there's a little footpath that runs down to the West Cliff between two mighty blocks.  These, I think, are some species of Pine.  Possibly Monterey.  But they certainly hold their own against the massive concrete and brick structures hemming them in.

Durley Road Car Park

This is the bravest tree I know, growing between a tarmac-ed car park and a busy roundabout.   Not much room for its roots but is a beautiful, tall tree.  I'm still not very good at identification yet but I think its a Monterey Cypress.  Anyone know better?
